A couple weeks ago I learned about something called the Indie Web. Its a movement to take back social media from big companies and own your own data. This community is developing protocols to allow websites running on personal domains to link up with one another, share comments, and syndicate content to established commercial social networks.
I'd like to be more connected online, but I'm not a fan of Twitter, Facebook or the other big names that dominate social networking. So I've been thinking about starting a personal website for a while. Finding out about Indie Web was inspiring, and lead to me finally taking that step. This site only implements the basic indieweb protocols for now, but I'm hoping to get things like webmentions and comments working in the future.
